Product Introduction
A DIN 94 split pin, also called a cotter pin, is a mechanical fastener made from soft wire that is looped and slotted, used to secure assemblies by being inserted through a hole and then bent. It functions as a safety mechanism, preventing components like castle nuts from loosening due to vibration. The split pin design allows for slight expansion once installed, creating a firm hold. It is a single-use fastener, as bending fatigue can cause it to fail if re-used.
Cost-Effective: Split pins are an inexpensive solution for securing assemblies.
Simple to Install: They require minimal tools for installation, making them user-friendly.
Reliable Locking: The bent legs of the split pin create a strong, secure hold, preventing fasteners from coming undone.
Removable: They provide a non-permanent locking solution that is easy to remove, reducing downtime during maintenance.
Durable & High-Vibration Resistance: Their design offers durability and a firm hold, making them suitable for high-vibration and load-bearing applications.
Elasticity: The pin's design allows for slight expansion once installed, enhancing its ability to maintain a firm grip.
Standardized Compliance: Adherence to DIN 94 standards ensures quality, dimensions, and tolerances meet industrial requirements.
Versatile Applications: Widely used in various sectors, including automotive and heavy machinery, to secure components like castle nuts and clevis pins.

Product Operate Guide
1. Prepare the Hole:
Ensure the hole is the correct size for the split pin. The pin's diameter is typically listed as the hole size it's intended for, with the pin itself being slightly smaller.
2. Insert the Pin:
Place the split pin through the prepared hole in the bolt, shaft, or along with a nut and bolt assembly. The closed loop of the pin at the top prevents it from falling through the hole entirely.
3. Secure the Pin:
Use a pair of pliers to spread the split ends of the pin apart. Bend them against the component to lock it in place.
4. Ensure Stability:
Verify that the pin remains securely fastened, but avoid over-bending, which can cause mechanical overload or weaken the pin.
